Dry Brushing Care & Safety
- Brush on dry skin: Dry brushing should be performed on dry skin before taking a shower or bath. Ensure that both your skin & the brush are completely dry to prevent any damage or irritation.
- Start gently: Begin with light pressure & gradually increase the intensity as your skin becomes accustomed to the brushing sensation. The goal is to stimulate the skin, not to cause pain or discomfort.
- Brush towards the heart: Always brush in the direction of your heart, as it follows the natural flow of lymphatic circulation. Start at your feet & brush upward towards your chest. Use long, sweeping motions rather than harsh scrubbing.
- Avoid sensitive areas: Steer clear of delicate or sensitive areas such as the face, breasts, nipples, & any areas with rashes, cuts, or wounds. Dry brushing should be done on the body only.
- Maintain hygiene: Clean your brush regularly to prevent the buildup of dead skin cells, dirt, & bacteria. Use mild soap & warm water to cleanse the bristles, & allow the brush to dry thoroughly before the next use.
- Frequency & duration: Dry brushing can be done once a day or a few times per week, depending on your skin's sensitivity & tolerance. Begin with a shorter duration of 5 to 10 minutes & gradually increase it to 15 minutes.
- Moisturize after brushing: After dry brushing, your skin may feel invigorated & may benefit from moisture. Apply a nourishing body moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated. We recommend our whipped tallow
- Listen to your body: Pay attention to how your skin reacts to dry brushing. If you experience excessive redness, irritation, or discomfort, reduce the pressure or frequency. Dry brushing should be a pleasant experience for your skin.
- Consult a professional if needed: If you have any underlying skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, or sensitive skin, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist or skincare professional before incorporating dry brushing into your routine.
Remember, dry brushing is not a replacement for medical treatments or professional advice. If you have any concerns or questions about dry brushing, consult a healthcare professional to ensure it is safe and suitable for you.
